Ultimate Carbon Fiber Tripod With Ball head or leveling base
For hunters who walk in to a stand, usually. Carbon fiber is lighter than aluminum for the same stiffness, so you carry less weight without giving up a steady rest. This one weighs 5 lbs with 10 layer carbon fiber construction and is built to hold heavy thermal rifles.
Carbon fiber wins on weight and vibration damping, and it doesn't feel as cold in your hands on a winter night. Aluminum costs less and shrugs off rough handling. If you hunt from the truck, aluminum is fine. If you carry the tripod in, carbon is easier on your back.
Cost, mainly, plus the fact that a hard, sharp impact can crack a carbon leg where aluminum would just dent. Keep the tripod in the included carry bag when you haul it, and try not to drop it on rocks or tailgate edges.
