XTAR

An XTAR charger keeps the rechargeable cells in your thermal, IR light and rangefinder ready for the next night out. XTAR builds chargers for lithium-ion and NiMH batteries, and we carry three of them, from a pocket USB unit to a bench charger that tells you how healthy each cell is.

Three XTAR chargers, three jobs

The Dragon VP4 Plus is the one for hunters who run a lot of batteries. It charges Li-ion, NiMH and 11.1V 3S packs and works as a battery analyzer, so you can test cells and pull a weak one out of rotation before it quits on a cold stand.

The VX2 Pro is a smart fast charger that also conditions cells. It suits a hunter with a few pairs of batteries who wants them charged quickly and kept in good shape between trips.

The FC2 is a compact Li-ion and Ni-MH charger that runs off USB. Plug it into a power bank or your truck and top off batteries at camp, no wall outlet needed.

If you are not sure which XTAR battery charger fits the cells you run, call us at (309) 781-8421 and tell us what you have. For cells to go with it, see our 18650 batteries or the full batteries and chargers section.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who makes XTAR chargers and batteries?

XTAR makes them itself. It is a Chinese company that designs lithium-ion batteries and smart chargers, and it is best known among hunters for its chargers. The three models we stock, the Dragon VP4 Plus, VX2 Pro and FC2, all come straight from XTAR's own line.

Are XTAR chargers good?

They do the job well for anyone running rechargeable cells in optics. The Dragon VP4 Plus doubles as a battery analyzer, so you can see which cells are holding charge and which are worn out. The VX2 Pro conditions cells as it charges, which helps a set of batteries last more seasons.

Do you sell XTAR 18650 batteries?

Not right now. Our XTAR shelf is chargers only, and we stock 18650 cells from other makers instead, including protected KeepPower cells. Pair any of them with an XTAR charger and you have a full kit for keeping a thermal or IR light running through a long night.

What battery brand should I use in my thermal?

Start with what your optic's manual calls for, then buy a known brand in that size. For most thermals that means protected cells with a capacity rating printed on them. Avoid unbranded cells with inflated numbers. A charger that tests capacity, like the Dragon VP4 Plus, shows you quickly whether a cell lives up to its label.
