Trijicon

Trijicon is known for riflescopes and sights, and at Dark Night Outdoors we carry the thermal side of its lineup. These thermal riflescopes put a sharp, high-definition heat image in front of you in complete darkness and light fog, and the housings are made from forged aircraft aluminum.

REAP-IR or IR-HUNTER

We stock two thermal families. The Trijicon REAP-IR comes in a 24mm with 1.2x base magnification and 9.6x combined magnification, and a 60mm with 3x base and 24x combined. The IR-HUNTER comes in 24mm (also 1.2x base and 9.6x combined), 35mm and 60mm.

Lens size is the main choice in both lines. The 24mm gives you low base magnification and a wide view, which helps when hogs come in close or you are hunting tight timber. The 60mm pushes base magnification up so you can identify a coyote at the far edge of a big field. The 35mm IR-HUNTER sits between the two.

A demo option

We also have a demo, like-new IR-HUNTER 60-2 for hunters who want the 60mm IR-HUNTER as a demo unit. Check that listing for its condition notes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Trijicon thermal scopes good?

They are well built. Trijicon makes its thermal housings from forged aircraft aluminum, and the REAP-IR and IR-HUNTER put a sharp, high-definition heat image in front of you in full dark and light fog. Each one carries Trijicon's manufacturer warranty, and we help you reach Trijicon if a scope needs service.

What is the best Trijicon thermal scope for my hunting?

It depends on lens size more than the family. The 24mm REAP-IR or IR-HUNTER, at 1.2x base, gives a wide view for hogs in close timber. The 60mm versions push base magnification to 3x for coyotes at the far edge of a big field, and the 35mm IR-HUNTER sits between the two.

How much should you spend on a Trijicon thermal scope?

Spend for the distances you hunt. Bigger lenses cost more to make, so a 60mm Trijicon costs more than a 24mm, and you only need that reach if you shoot across open ground. A demo IR-HUNTER 60-2 is another way into the 60mm. PayPal Credit can spread the cost, subject to credit approval.

What is the lifespan of a thermal scope?

A well-kept thermal scope can last many years, because the sensor has no parts that wear out with normal use. The things that age are batteries and seals, so store the scope dry and keep the lens covered. Trijicon's forged aluminum housings are built to take recoil and a season of knocks.

What is the Trijicon RMR?

The RMR is Trijicon's compact red dot sight, best known on handguns. It isn't something we stock. Our Trijicon shelf is thermal riflescopes, the REAP-IR and IR-HUNTER, for spotting and shooting hogs and predators after dark. Call us at (309) 781-8421 to talk through which size fits your rifle.
