Helmet Mounts

A helmet mount holds your thermal or night vision monocular in front of your eye, so your hands stay free for the rifle, a light or a tree limb on the walk in. This category carries the parts that make that work: mounts, arms, shoes that attach a specific monocular, and bridges for running two units.

Parts for InfiRay RICO units

Most of our shoes fit InfiRay. The iRayUSA RICO MICRO PICTAIL 2 shoe comes in two versions (one is the AC59-T), and the original RICO MICRO PICTAIL shoe is the AC52. The iRayUSA MINI Series Dovetail Shoe fits Mini units, and the IRAY RICO Mini RH25/RL25 PVS-14 bridge adapter for Mod Armory joins a RICO Mini to a PVS-14 style bridge. If you're building an RH25 helmet mount setup, start with those.

Mounts, arms and bridges

For the helmet side, choose the UNV Ultimate or the L4 G24 mount. The J-Arm shoe/arm lets you run a PVS-14 style monocular. To pair two units side by side, look at the RQE KVC Universal Mono/Bino Bridge, the SKEETIRx Binocular Bridge System or the M24 FLIR Recon bino/mono bridge.

Every setup needs three links to match: helmet, mount and shoe. Check what your monocular uses before you order, or call (309) 781-8421 and we'll sort it out. Need the monocular itself? See our thermal monoculars built for helmets.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I mount a thermal or night vision monocular to my helmet?

You need a helmet with a front mount point, a mount or arm, and a shoe made for your monocular. InfiRay RICO Micro owners, for example, use the RICO MICRO PICTAIL 2 shoe, and Mini owners use the MINI Series Dovetail Shoe. Small, light units work best, since weight out front tires your neck over a long night.

What is the best helmet mount for night vision goggles?

Pick the mount that matches your helmet and how many units you run. For one monocular, the UNV Ultimate or the L4 G24 mount with the right shoe covers most setups, and the J-Arm handles PVS-14 style units. To run two side by side, look at the RQE KVC bridge, the SKEETIRx Binocular Bridge System or the M24 bridge.

What is the difference between Gen 2 and Gen 3 night vision?

Gen 3 tubes use a gallium arsenide photocathode, which makes them more sensitive in very low light and longer lasting than Gen 2. Gen 2 costs less and works well with some moonlight or an IR light. Either one hangs from the same mounts and bridges here, as long as you have the right shoe for the housing.

Is night vision illegal in any states?

Owning night vision is legal across the US, but some states limit hunting with it. Many allow it for coyotes, hogs and other predators and ban it for deer and other game animals. Read your state's hunting rules before you take a helmet setup into the field. Some optics carry export restrictions, so we ship only within the USA.

Why are NVG helmet mounts so expensive?

Mounts carry a heavy optic out in front of your face, so they need strong, precisely fitted parts that won't loosen or sag. Fine adjustment for height, tilt and eye spacing adds more machining. Bridges that hold two units, like the RQE KVC or SKEETIRx, also have to keep both sides aligned, which adds cost.
